Job description

Shuttle Bus Driver

The shuttle bus driver is responsible for the safe operation of the shuttle bus to assist the guests traveling between Mt. Rose's two base lodges. The driver will also occasionally transport inventory and/or Mt. Rose employees between the two sides of the mountain.

Education/Experience/Skills and Ability Requirements:

  • Valid class "C" commercial drivers license with a passenger endorsement.
  • Driving experience in extremely snowy and icy conditions on mountain roads preferred.
  • Clean driving record for the last 5 years.
  • Familiar with automatic transmissions and the ways to minimize wear and tear on the vehicles and their engines while driving in mountainous terrain.
  • Excellent English speaking skills.
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritize tasks.
  • Shovel any necessary areas to ensure customer and staff safety

Contacts:

  • Internal: Parking Lot Staff, Vehicle Maintenance, Guest Services, Food & Beverage, Retail Sales, Ski Patrol and other internal departments as necessary.
  • External: Resort customers, NDOT, NHP

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Safe operation of the shuttle bus to include impeccable driving habits. Driver should be constantly alert and aware of their surroundings, both on the highway and in the parking lot, and be able to have a quick reaction time in unpredictable situations.
  • Regular inspection of shuttle bus to ensure that everything is working properly.
  • Maintenance of fluid levels, tire pressure, interior and exterior lights and signals, safety equipment and the overall cleanliness and appearance of the bus.
  • Report any suspicious mechanical issues or abnormal performance to vehicle maintenance department.
  • Greet customers in a friendly and outgoing manner in support of excellent customer service.
  • Provide information and answer questions about the resort to resort guests.
  • Use SNOWsat to check equipment in and out (e.g. snowcats, snowmobiles, and rangers)
  • Report any suspicious mechanical issues or abnormal performance of equipment to the Vehicle Maintenance department via SNOWsat.

Marginal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with operation of Mt. Rose in other areas – to include picking up trash, shoveling snow and ice, placing cones, signs and barricades in the proper order, and other duties as assigned.
  • Any other duties that may contribute to the cleanliness, orderliness and overall efficiency of the entire operations and all of the tasks contained therein.
