A Shutter Driver is responsible for operating shuttle vehicles to transport passengers or goods between designated locations. This role often involves driving along a set route, ensuring passenger safety, maintaining the vehicle, and adhering to traffic regulations. Shutter Drivers may work for airports, hotels, corporate campuses, or logistics companies. Strong customer service skills and a valid driver's license are typically required.
As a Shutter Driver, your day will typically begin with receiving your delivery schedule and inspecting your vehicle for safety. You’ll spend most of your shift driving to various locations to deliver or pick up items such as shutters, window coverings, or related products, interacting with both commercial and residential customers. Responsibilities also include loading and unloading products, verifying delivery information, handling documentation, and sometimes assisting with basic installations or measurements. While you often work independently, you’ll regularly coordinate with warehouse teams, dispatchers, and installation crews to ensure deliveries are accurate and efficient.
To thrive as a Shutter Driver, you should have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), a clean driving record, and experience safely operating delivery vehicles or trucks. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, basic vehicle maintenance, and possibly handheld delivery scanners is often required. Reliable communication, punctuality, attention to detail, and strong customer service skills help Shutter Drivers excel. These capabilities ensure timely, safe deliveries and a positive customer experience while minimizing errors and delays.
