Job description

Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for a TA Planner to join their team on a 1-year contract in Calgary (travel required).


Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Coordination

  • Develop detailed turnaround work scopes, job plans, and execution schedules.
  • Build and maintain work packages, including labor requirements, materials, tools, permits, and safety documentation.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance, and contractors to define scope and priorities.
  • Identify critical path activities and optimize shutdown timelines.
  • Ensure all required parts, materials, and resources are available prior to execution.

Execution Support

  • Provide on-site planning support during turnaround events.
  • Troubleshoot issues in real time and adjust plans to maintain schedule integrity.
  • Monitor field progress and ensure work is executed according to plan and standards.
  • Participate in daily planning meetings and performance reviews during outages.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Apply mechanical expertise to develop accurate job steps and sequencing.
  • Review equipment history and maintenance records to refine work plans.
  • Ensure proper alignment with industry standards and best practices for mechanical maintenance and installation.


Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • 5+ years of hands-on mechanical experience in industrial environments (e.g., oil & gas, mining, manufacturing, or power).
  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance planning, turnaround planning, or scheduling.
  • Proven ability to develop detailed job plans and work packages.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and maintenance processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence and coordinate teams.

Preferred:

  • Maximo experience
  • Previous experience supporting large-scale turnarounds or shutdowns.
  • Scheduling software experience (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
