Job description


A legal organization is seeking a Bookkeeper to provide support to the Director of Finance and Administrative Operations in all aspects of accounting with a focus on accounts payable and payroll processing. This is a short-term position, for about 30 days, working Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Responsibilities:
  • Process and maintain payroll records and verify all payroll reports for accuracy
  • Review invoices for accuracy and process for payment
  • Maintain electronic journal ledgers and regularly review accounts payable, cash receipts, and accounts receivable for accuracy
  • Review trust account balances and update attorneys on stale account activity
  • Reconcile bank statements, prepare month end journal entries and monthly accruals, and prepare periodic reports
  • Coordinate travel and event arrangements for staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping or commensurate experience is required
  • Must have 1 to 3 years experience with accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger
  • Must be proficient with MS Office, Windows, and databases, along with accounting and payroll software
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills with an attentiveness to cultural needs and differences
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be organized, able to prioritize work, multi-task, and handle multiple responsibilities
  • Must have the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of individuals
  • Must be able to interact cordially, treat clients, staff, and the public with dignity and respect, and appreciate diverse cultures and communities
  • The ability to maintain strict confidence regarding client and sensitive information is mandatory
