What is a Shoretel engineer?

Shoretel engineers are IT professionals who specialize in installing, configuring, and maintaining Shoretel (now Mitel) unified communications systems, including VoIP phone systems, network infrastructure, and related software. They ensure reliable voice and data communication for businesses, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide user support and training. These engineers work with both hardware and software components to optimize communication solutions and may also assist in system upgrades and integration with other technologies.

To thrive as a ShoreTel VoIP Engineer, you need a strong background in networking, telecommunications, and VoIP systems, often supported by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with ShoreTel/Mitel systems, SIP protocols, and relevant certifications such as CCNA or Mitel certifications is highly valued. Strong problem-solving abilities, customer service orientation, and effective communication are crucial soft skills in this role. These skills enable reliable deployment, management, and troubleshooting of unified communication systems, ensuring seamless business operations.
