Role Overview

We are Route

Buying stuff online can get messy once you hit that “order” button. Managing dozens carrier tracking links, dealing with lost or damaged packages, and resolving issues with customer support can feel like a wild goose chase. That’s why we created the Route — to make the post‑purchase experience for consumers like you, and the brands you love, as seamless as possible.

Route is on a mission to connect the world’s commerce. Through our network of +5 million Route App users and 15,000 merchants, we’re making it easier than ever for consumers to track, insure, and discover their favorite products in one place — which connects the world’s coolest direct‑to‑consumer brands to happy, repeat customers.

Since Route launched in 2018, we’ve been on a journey to build innovative products that empower our customers, all while fostering a people‑first, values‑driven company culture. We’re looking for talented people across the ecommerce space to join us on the next steps of this adventure.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the vision, strategy, and execution for Route’s consumer checkout experience, owning the product roadmap end‑to‑end.
  • Own and provide clarity around key business and product performance metrics, including take rate, conversion rate, contribution margin, and overall checkout performance.
  • Lead a high‑quality experimentation cadence by developing hypotheses, prioritizing tests, reviewing experiment design, and presenting learnings and recommendations to leadership.
  • Partner directly with enterprise merchants to understand integration needs, customer pain points, and opportunities to improve the checkout experience at scale.
  • Make thoughtful trade‑off decisions across revenue‑generating initiatives, merchant requests, platform investments, and long‑term product scalability.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Engineering, Analytics, Design, Sales, Marketing, and Executive leadership to prioritize and launch impactful product improvements.
  • Develop deep expertise in Route’s checkout and e‑commerce ecosystem, continuously auditing the experience and advocating for both shoppers and merchants.
  • Write clear product requirements, rollout strategies, and documentation for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Operate with high ownership and urgency, navigating ambiguity, making decisions under pressure, and driving alignment across stakeholders with differing perspectives.
  • Translate merchant feedback, customer insights, and data into strategic roadmap decisions while balancing short‑term opportunities with long‑term product vision.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of product management experience within B2B SaaS, eCommerce, payments, checkout, or post‑purchase platforms.
  • Proven ownership of revenue‑driving product surfaces and key metrics such as conversion rate, take rate, AOV, attach rate, or checkout funnel performance.
  • Deep understanding of Shopify’s ecosystem, including checkout extensibility, Checkout Functions, app architecture, and merchant customization capabilities.
  • Experience building and scaling checkout, upsell, or post‑purchase experiences within Shopify or adjacent e‑commerce ecosystems.
  • Strong technical fluency with APIs, rules engines, webhooks, platform integrations, and complex system trade‑offs.
  • Demonstrated experimentation mindset with experience designing, analyzing, and scaling A/B testing programs tied to business outcomes.
  • Comfortable using SQL, analytics platforms, and BI tooling to evaluate performance and inform product decisions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability to operate with high ownership, move quickly in ambiguous environments, and make thoughtful trade‑off decisions under pressure.
  • Experience with companies in the checkout or post‑purchase ecosystem such as Affien, Klarna, Sezzle, Rebuy, Aftersell, Loop, or similar platforms is highly preferred.
Equal Opportunity Statement

Route is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We embrace diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.

Benefits

We know our team works best when everyone feels happy, healthy, and supported. We offer to pay 100% of your health insurance premiums on a $0 deductible plan for you and your family, remote or hybrid work arrangements, unlimited PTO, 401k matching, formalized growth opportunities, learning & development, DEI programs & events, and so much more.
