What is a Shopify task?

Shopify Tasks refer to specific actions or projects completed within the Shopify platform, such as setting up products, customizing themes, managing orders, or integrating apps. These tasks can be performed by store owners themselves or by hiring Shopify experts and developers. Completing Shopify tasks efficiently helps store owners optimize their online presence, improve customer experience, and streamline business operations.

What are some common challenges faced when managing multiple Shopify tasks simultaneously, and how can these be effectively addressed?

Managing multiple Shopify tasks at once often involves balancing urgent store updates, product listings, theme customizations, and order management. A common challenge is prioritizing tasks without disrupting the customer experience. Effective strategies include using project management tools, setting clear deadlines, and maintaining open communication with team members such as designers, marketers, and support staff. Leveraging Shopify’s automation features and regularly reviewing workflow processes can also help streamline operations and reduce stress.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Shopify specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Shopify Specialist, you need expertise in e-commerce, website management, and a solid understanding of Shopify's platform and best practices, often supported by experience in web development or digital marketing. Proficiency with Shopify's admin interface, Liquid templating language, third-party apps, and analytics tools is essential. Job description

What you'll own
  • Delivery across five brand storefronts on Shopify Hydrogen, Shopify Liquid, and Magento: a steady, well-prioritized flow of site updates, integrations, and fixes.
  • The reliability of those storefronts and the third-party integrations behind them: payments, feeds, analytics, marketing tools, and ERP/OMS (NetSuite).
  • Intake and prioritization with the business, turning merchandising, marketing, and operations requests into shipped work.
  • The team itself: code review, standards, coaching, and helping engineers take on more.
  • How the team uses AI to move faster without lowering the quality bar.

Real problems you'll work on
  • Help lead the migration of our brands onto Shopify, consolidating onto a single platform over the coming year.
  • Keep five storefronts and their integrations stable, with few surprises and fast recovery when something breaks.
  • Shorten the turnaround on site updates and requests from the business.
  • Level up the team's practices and output, with AI as a real part of how they build.

What success looks like
  • In 90 days: you know the brands, the stack, and the team, you're shipping alongside them, and you've tightened how work comes in and gets prioritized.
  • In a year: turnaround on business requests is faster, the sites are more stable, the team's practices and output have stepped up, and the engineers on it have grown.

How we work with AI
AI is central to how we build, and we're investing heavily in it, well beyond writing code or automating a few tasks.
  • We're building our own internal harness so real engineering work, like error resolution, bug fixes, and feature enhancements, can run around the clock with agents, not only during business hours.
  • Engineers use Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor every day.
  • We want a leader who pushes this forward, designs how the team works with agents, reviews what they produce against the requirements, and keeps the quality bar high.

Must-haves
  • You're a strong, hands-on engineer who still wants to be in the code while leading a team.
  • You have deep, hands-on experience building and running ecommerce platforms, with Shopify as the primary requirement (Hydrogen and Liquid). Magento experience is a plus.
  • You're full-stack across the surrounding systems: APIs, third-party integrations, feeds, and payments.
  • You've led or mentored engineers and can raise a team's bar, coach people, and improve how they work.
  • You're strong at prioritization and clear communication with non-technical partners.
  • You use AI to build and review code and to speed up the team.

Nice to have
  • Experience replatforming or migrating ecommerce sites, ideally onto Shopify.
  • Multi-brand or multi-storefront commerce experience.
  • Experience with feed and catalog systems and ERP/OMS (NetSuite) integrations.
  • Experience leading a distributed team.

Technologies we use
  • AI: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and internal AI tools.
  • Storefronts: Shopify Hydrogen (React Router, TypeScript) on Cloudflare/Oxygen, Shopify Liquid, Magento, Sanity CMS.
  • Backend and data: PHP, Node/TypeScript, Python, GraphQL, dbt/Airflow, Snowflake.
  • Commerce systems: NetSuite (ERP/OMS), product catalog and feeds, payments, analytics and marketing integrations.
  • Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform, Docker.

Interview process
An initial phone screen, followed by two to three rounds of interviews with the team to confirm technical skill, personal fit, and role alignment.
Additional details
  • Location: this is a US-based role, open to remote candidates anywhere in the United States. Denver is a plus but not required.
  • Compensation: $150,000 to $180,000, depending on experience. This role is also eligible for company equity.
  • Benefits: generous PTO, volunteer days off, medical, dental, vision, and disability coverage, a 401(k) with company match, free design services, furniture discounts, and merchandise credits.
  • We are accepting applications on an ongoing basis until the role is filled.
  • Havenly is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
