Job description

We're looking for an E-Commerce Copywriter who understands that great product copy is about more than describing what a product does. You understand the relationship between products, customers, messaging, SEO, and conversion—and you know how to turn product features into compelling reasons to buy.

The Role

As our E-Commerce Copywriter, you'll help shape how Zulay Kitchen's products are presented across our e-commerce channels. You'll write and optimize product listings, develop messaging for new products, research customers and competitors, and continuously look for ways to make our copy more compelling and conversion-focused.

We're looking for someone who is a strong writer, customer-focused, creative, curious, and obsessed with figuring out what makes people click—and buy.

What You'll Do E-Commerce Copywriting
  • Write and optimize product titles, bullet points, descriptions, and other e-commerce content.
  • Create compelling product copy that clearly communicates what the product does, why it matters, and why customers should choose it.
  • Turn product features into customer-focused benefits and persuasive messaging.
  • Develop copy for Amazon listings, Shopify product pages, A+ Content, social media, email campaigns, product packaging, and other customer-facing marketing materials.
  • Write messaging for new product launches, promotions, and other marketing initiatives.
  • Maintain a consistent and recognizable Zulay Kitchen brand voice across product content.
Conversion & Product Messaging
  • Review existing product listings and identify opportunities to improve clarity, engagement, and conversion.
  • Analyze customer reviews, questions, feedback, and competitor listings to understand what customers care about.
  • Identify customer pain points, objections, motivations, and purchasing triggers.
  • Develop messaging that addresses customer concerns and makes the value of our products immediately clear.
  • Help identify the strongest selling points and differentiators for each product.
  • Continuously test and refine messaging based on performance and customer response.
SEO & Marketplace Optimization
  • Conduct keyword research and incorporate relevant search terms naturally into product copy.
  • Optimize listings for search visibility without sacrificing readability or persuasive messaging.
  • Stay current on Amazon and e-commerce SEO best practices.
  • Research competitors and identify opportunities to differentiate Zulay Kitchen products.
  • Keep up with changes in marketplace algorithms, customer behavior, and e-commerce trends.
Research & Collaboration
  • Work closely to develop and execute product messaging and content strategies.
  • Collaborate with Category Managers, Amazon Sales Specialists, Designers, and other team members to understand products and their target customers.
  • Conduct product and market research before developing copy.
  • Partner with the creative team to make sure copy and visuals work together to tell a strong product story.
  • Take feedback, iterate quickly, and continuously improve your work.
You'd Be a Great Fit If...

You don't just look at a product and ask "What does it do?"

You ask:

"Why would someone want this?"

"What problem is this solving?"

"What would make a customer choose this over the competition?"

"What might stop someone from buying?"

"How can we communicate the value in a way that makes people want to click 'Add to Cart'?"

You're able to take a product with a list of features and turn it into copy that makes the customer understand why they need it.

You're equally comfortable researching competitors and customer reviews, analyzing an existing product listing, and sitting down to write a strong headline or product description.

You don't wait for someone to tell you what needs to be improved. You're constantly looking for opportunities to make our listings clearer, more compelling, and more likely to convert.

Requirements
  • 2+ years of professional copywriting experience, preferably in e-commerce, DTC, retail, or consumer products.
  • Proven experience writing product listings or conversion-focused copy.
  • Excellent written English, grammar, and editing skills.
  • Strong understanding of customer psychology and persuasive writing.
  • Experience with Amazon and other e-commerce marketplaces is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of e-commerce SEO and keyword optimization.
  • Strong research skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple products and deadlines independently.
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and iterating on copy.
  • A strong instinct for what makes copy clear, engaging, and convincing.
Bonus Points
  • Experience with Amazon A+ Content / Enhanced Brand Content.
  • Familiarity with Helium 10, Jungle Scout, or similar tools.
  • Shopify experience.
  • Experience working with physical consumer products, particularly kitchen, home, or lifestyle brands.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, photographers, or creative teams.
  • Experience using AI tools to support research and content workflows while maintaining originality and brand voice.
