How you'll make an impact:
Carter's is seeking a Platform Reliability & Operation Engineer to support the performance, reliability, scalability, and security of our enterprise eCommerce websites powered by Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC). This role bridges software engineering and operational expertise to deliver seamless online experiences, leveraging cutting-edge technology, vendor collaborations, and automation. Proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, React.js, HTML, and CSS is critical for success in this position.
eCommerce Platform Operations (40%)
  • Technical Support: Perform bug fixes, code updates, optimizations, and platform configurations for SFCC environments.
  • Incident and Problem Management: Assist in troubleshooting efforts for production issues, collaborating with internal teams and vendors to identify and resolve problems promptly.
  • Site Reliability: Execute daily operational routines to maintain site performance, security, and reliability.
  • Integration Management: Assist in developing and maintaining integration between SFCC and backend systems or third-party solutions using APIs (OCAPI/SCAPI).
Monitoring and Observability (20%)
  • Automation: Support the development of automated tools for monitoring, scaling, and synchronization of SFCC environments.
  • Website Optimization: Collaborate with vendors (e.g., AWS, Cloudflare) under the guidance of senior team members to enhance CDN functionality and improve website performance for global users.
  • Observability: Assist in designing and maintaining monitoring systems using tools like Tableau, Claude, Quantum Metrics, Adobe Analytics, Salesforce Reports, and Splunk for proactive issue detection.
Disaster Recovery and Risk Mitigation (20%)
  • Scalability and Resilience: Assist in executing and supporting disaster recovery plans and perform resilience testing during peak traffic periods.
  • Cybersecurity Partnership: Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure PCI-DSS compliance.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to ensure timely resolution of critical incidents and minimal customer impact.
Collaborative Responsibilities (20%)
  • Maintain and update technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and operational workflows.
  • Support audits (e.g., PCI-DSS) and load-testing efforts for high-traffic events.
  • Work closely with development, product teams, and stakeholders to embed reliability principles across projects and designs.

Must have:
  • Degree in computer science or related field
  • 1-2 years of relative experience in one or more areas below:
  • Technical Expertise: Working knowledge in JavaScript, Node.js, React.js, HTML, and CSS.
  • eCommerce Platforms: Some exposure to e-commerce platforms (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify, or Magento) or related systems such as Order Management (OMS) or inventory management tools.
  • API Integration: Familiarity with API integrations, with a willingness to learn and develop implementation skills.
  • Cloud and CDN Optimization: Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS and content delivery network (CDN) tools like Cloudflare.
  • Monitoring & Analytics: Familiarity with observability and analytics platforms such as Splunk, Adobe Analytics, and Salesforce Dashboards for performance monitoring and reporting.

Work Requirements:
  • Must be available for infrequent evenings, weekends, and holidays as defined by Management or by business needs/volume in additional to adherence to a rotating on-call schedule
  • Comply with vacation blackout periods as determined by Management and business needs/volume.
