Job description

Our company is committed to being trusted voices of light and truth reaching hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

Deseret Book is pleased to announce an exciting new collaboration with the Church.

Beginning November 2, 2026, Deseret Book will assume retail operations for the gift shop inside the Church History Museum, followed by the gift shop inside the Beehive House and Lion House Historical Sites in December 2026.

While these locations will operate as Deseret Book stores from a business and staffing perspective, they will continue to serve visitors as Church gift shops.

Position

The Sales Associate position is responsible for making church curriculum and products available to customers, providing excellent customer service and assisting as needed, stocking shelves, operating the cash register, answering business phone calls, and assisting with product displays. As this role is located on Temple Square and in Church buildings, associates serve as ambassadors of the Church. They are expected to reflect the light of Jesus Christ in their conduct and appearance, ensuring every visitor's experience aligns with the sacred purpose of Temple Square.

Description

  • Welcome every guest warmlyand assist with finding products, answering questions, and sharing information.

  • Process transactions accurately, operate the cash register, handle returns and exchanges, take orders, and assist with imprinting and gift wrapping.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting store, stock shelves, unpack shipments, and uphold visual displays and merchandising standards.

  • Support the team, collaborate with fellow Associates, Leads, and Supervisors; participate in meetings and training with a willing, humble attitude.

  • Work flexible shifts, including days, evenings, and Saturdays.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • BFOQ - Must possesses a current temple recommend or have a bishop's recommendation
  • Friendly, approachable demeanor with strong verbal communication skills; able to engage customers in person and by phone daily.
  • Genuine desire to serve others and represent the Church in a sacred setting; comfortable discussing the gospel of Jesus Christ in a warm, inviting, and doctrinally appropriate manner.
  • Self-motivated team player who collaborates well with associates and takes initiative independently.
  • Basic computer proficiency preferred.
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods, regularly lift up to 20 lbs, and occasionally lift 35-50 lbs.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and peak visitor seasons.
  • Adherence to Church-approved dress and grooming standards at all times.
