Description:

We are looking for a Shop Manager who will lead our Maintenance/Container Shop by managing personnel, productivity, safety, and budget performance. This role ensures full compliance with environmental regulations, safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and company policies, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.


Primary Duties
  • Oversee Daily Operations: Manage day-to-day maintenance and shop activities, ensuring adherence to operational, quality control, safety, environmental, and performance standards. Provide coaching and corrective guidance where needed
  • Lead & Develop Staff: Supervise, train, and support all maintenance personnel, promoting skill development and high performance
  • Ensure Safety & Security: Enforce all safety and security procedures and maintain a safe work environment at all times.
  • Resource Management: Maintain adequate repair parts, tools, supplies, and services to keep operations running efficiently.
  • Monitor Systems & Compliance: Track and evaluate management control systems, training programs, documentation, and compliance measures.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Review logs, records, and production reports to confirm accuracy and ensure facility-wide adherence to company requirements.
  • Fleet Oversight: Notify fleet management of deficiencies or operational challenges and support solutions that improve plant efficiency.
  • Quality & Process Improvement: Conduct regular inspections/audits, implement corrective actions, identify process improvements, evaluate new concepts, and help deploy approved changes.
  • Promote Cost Efficiency: Encourage a culture of sustainability, conservation, and cost awareness across all teams.
  • Budget & Planning: Contribute to budgeting, cost control, operational planning, and procedural updates.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Maintain up-to-date contingency plans for equipment failure, power outages, or other critical situations.
  • Empower Decision-Making: Teach and guide staff to make informed decisions within established parameters.
Additional Responsibilities (As Needed)
  • Execute capital and facility improvement projects.
  • Oversee maintenance activities related to capital project work.
  • Manage onsite contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience coaching and developing employees.
  • Experience supervising full-time staff, including technicians and maintenance mechanics.
