Position Summary:

The Part-Time Range Safety Officer (RSO) is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the indoor shooting range. This position upholds all safety standards, supervises range activities, assists customers, and supports the overall mission of providing a professional and secure shooting environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise all live-fire activities on the range, ensuring compliance with all safety rules and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct safety briefings and confirm that all shooters understand and adhere to range protocols.
  • Monitor shooters continuously and address any unsafe behavior promptly and respectfully.
  • Inspect firearms and ammunition for compliance with range policies and safety requirements.
  • Maintain range cleanliness, including resetting shooting lanes and clearing debris or brass.
  • Provide general assistance to customers regarding safe firearm handling and basic range operation questions.
  • Enforce company policies as well as all applicable federal, state, and local firearms regulations.
  • Accurately document and report any safety violations, malfunctions, or incidents.
  • Assist with daily range opening and closing procedures.
  • Support other range or retail staff as needed to ensure smooth facility operations.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Range Safety Officer certification (NRA or equivalent) preferred or willingness to obtain within a designated timeframe.
  • Demonstrated experience with safe firearm handling and range safety practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service orientation.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or emergency situations.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with loud noise and exposure to firearms discharge.

Work Schedule:

Part-time, with hours varying based on range operations and event needs. Typical schedules include evenings and weekends.
