Shipyard Job information

What are the different jobs in a shipyard?

Shipyard jobs include roles such as welders, pipefitters, electricians, carpenters, shipbuilders, and inspectors. These positions require skills in metalworking, assembly, and safety protocols, often involving the use of specialized tools and equipment. Workers typically need safety certifications and may work in shifts depending on project schedules.

What is the difference between Shipyard Job vs Shipfitter?

AspectShipyard JobShipfitter
CertificationsOSHA safety training, basic welding, and maritime certificationsWelding certifications, OSHA safety training, maritime certifications

Both roles are essential in shipbuilding and repair, often working side by side in shipyards. While a Shipyard Job encompasses a broad range of tasks, a Shipfitter specializes in fitting and installing ship components. Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right career path or job search focus within the maritime industry.
