Job description

Position Summary

Avail Staffing is seeking experienced Pipe Welders tosupport ship repair and new construction projects in a fast-paced shipyardenvironment. Candidates must have experience welding various pipe systemsaboard naval or commercial vessels while maintaining high-quality workmanshipand strict safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform SMAW, GTAW, and FCAW welding on pipe systems aboard ships and submarines
  • Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding procedures
  • Fabricate, fit, and weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel piping systems
  • Prepare pipe surfaces for welding, including grinding, beveling, and alignment
  • Complete welding in confined spaces, elevated areas, and shipboard environments
  • Conduct pipe repairs, replacements, and new installations according to NAVSEA and shipyard standards
  • Operate hand tools, grinders, torches, and welding equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas while following OSHA and shipyard safety requirements
  • Work closely with pipefitters, supervisors, and QA inspectors to meet production schedules

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of pipe welding experience in a shipyard, industrial, or marine environment
  • Proficient in SMAW (Stick), GTAW (TIG), and/or FCAW welding processes
  • Ability to pass a hands-on welding test
  • Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel pipe systems preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols
  • Knowledge of NAVSEA standards is a plus
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
  • Reliable transportation and strong attendance required
