Job description

OVERALL, ROLE:
The Shipping/Warehouse Lead runs the day-to-day operations in the shipping, receiving and warehouse. The lead is responsible for shipping and receiving products.
 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
Shipping
  • Pick and prepare materials for shipping
  • Generate BOL and arrange shipments with carriers as required. Advise sales of the pallet dimensions and weight.
  • Record the PRO/Tracking data in the freight excel spreadsheet. 
  • Assist sales with questions and/or issues in regards to customer shipment. Notify sales of late deliveries and ship schedule changes.
  • Assist the operators of trucks in the loading and unloading of materials when needed
  • Prepare and process necessary shipping paperwork, labels, and packaging to assure proper shipment of materials
  • Inspect orders to ensure product is shipped to customer requirements.
  • Maintain work area to assure a neat and functional space. 
  • Provide tracking information as required.
  • Report issues to management. 
  • Report and manage shipping conflict as they come up.
 
Receiving 
  • Assist receiving products and material when needed
  • Ensure paperwork for containers is completed and provided to accounting in a timely manner, and that all paperwork and samples are organized and filed promptly.
  • Oversee receiving staff. Including assigning responsibilities, work and daily tasks to receiving staff, and monitoring receiving staff. 
  • Report issues to management. 
  • Manage receiving conflict as they come up.
 
Warehouse
  • Check and monitor inventory of supplies such as boxes, tape, spools. 
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization. Ensure quality of finished product.
  • Pick and return materials needed.
  • Perform and/or record daily inspection of equipment, reporting all exceptions to department manager
  • Perform cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Consolidate items, when possible, to save space. Ensure box labels face outwards and only like items are stacked on top of each other.
 
Other duties as required
 
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with data entry on a computer.
  • Ability to use basic inventory software.
  • Skilled in the safe operation of hand jacks, lift trucks and other material handling equipment
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Forklift certified or multiple years of experience.
