Position Summary
The Shipping Lead is responsible for overseeing daily shipping operations in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures all products are accurately packaged, labeled, and shipped on time while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards. The Shipping Lead provides guidance to shipping team members and coordinates with production, inventory, and logistics departments to support customer delivery requirements.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and support daily shipping activities and team members.
  • The Shipping Lead utilizes shipping and logistics platforms such as Customer Portals, FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip, or similar tools to process orders, generate labels, track shipments, and manage carrier integrations across multiple channels.
  • Coordinate shipment schedules to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Verify accuracy of orders, packing slips, labels, and shipping documentation.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely.
  • Monitor inventory movement and communicate shortages or discrepancies.
  • Ensure products are packaged according to company and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area.
  • Train new employees on shipping procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Work closely with production, receiving, and customer service teams.
  • Track shipments and communicate updates when necessary.
  • Enforce company policies, quality standards, and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as needed.
  • This role ensures proper system usage, troubleshoots shipping issues, maintains accurate shipment documentation, and works to resolve delays and errors.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in shipping, warehouse, or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Prior leadership or team lead experience is a plus.
  • Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with ERP or shipping systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse or manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.

Schedule
  • Full-time position.
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production demands.

Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of inventory control and shipping procedures.
  • Experience with UPS, FedEx, LTL, or freight shipping systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
