Job description

POSITION TITLE:               Assistant Warehouse Floor Supervisor
STATUS:                             Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT:                   5283-Transportation/Operations
REPORTS TO:                    Warehouse Floor Supervisor
SAFETY SENSITIVE:         HIGH - This position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to pre-employment, drug, and alcohol screening. 
The starting wage for this position is $28.00 per hour.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB: The Assistant Warehouse Floor Supervisor will play a key role by significantly contributing to the management and operational success of the department. In coordination with and under the guidance of the Warehouse Floor Supervisor, the Assistant Warehouse Floor Supervisor will help oversee daily operations and support supervision of staff, clients, and volunteers while creating a positive image of GIRE in the community.

PROVIDES SUPERVISION TO: Warehouse, Transportation, and Outlet staff as directed
  
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Administrative Focus
  • Provide supervision and management for the Warehouse, Transportation, and Outlet teams in accordance with GIRE operational standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate close to open standards and operations.
  • Onboard and train new employees in assigned departments as directed.
  • Support in the delivery and management of performance standards for staff.
  • Prepare and post weekly work schedules and daily assignments (primary and secondary) in a timely manner.
  • Plan for and arrange supply orders and maintenance needs within departmental budget as requested by supervisor.
  • Prepare accurate and complete paperwork and communicate with appropriate department, including but not limited to reports to supervisor, payroll, invoices, incident and accident reports, and BOLโ€™s and Seals as directed.
  • Ensure all regular, preventative maintenance for warehouse machinery, GIRE and leased vehicles, and equipment (e.g., compactors, balers, tippers, forklifts, pallet jacks, donation/storage containers) and are safe, functional, and used properly.
  • Perform inventory counts at all warehouses as requested (i.e., Donated Goods - Raw, Outlet and Salvage).
  • Responsible for opening and securely closing warehouse as needed.
Warehouse Focus:
  • Perform and/or oversee all shipping and receiving duties that enter the warehouse including intercompany mail, daily monitoring, and assignment location of inventory and inventory movement (Outgoing product and incoming product placement) (i.e., Donated Goods - Raw, Outlet and Salvage).
  • Ensure fulfillment of Salvage sales by effective inventory tracking, production, monitoring, and communications.
Transportation Focus:
  • Responsible for maintaining consistent communication and coordinating reliable transportation across all DGR sites for the purpose of inventory movement, supply deliveries, and scheduled trash pickups as assigned.
  • Daily monitoring of truck orders.
  • Ensure yard trash pickups (i.e. 40-yard trash bins) and compactor are appropriately scheduled with vendors.
Outlet Focus:
  • Ensure table rotation schedule is met in the Outlet Center.
  • Perform frequent bank deposits and change runs in support of business needs, as assigned.
ANCILLARY FUNCTIONS:
  • Serve as back up to any position in the department as needed to accomplish goals.
  • Effectively resolve issues with DGR team members, customers, and donors.
  • Work collaboratively with the GIRE Safety Coordinator and others as needed to ensure and enforce that the policies and procedures for safety are being followed.
  • Actively participate in all trainings and meetings.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and safe worksite(s).
  • Must be available for occasional activities outside regular business hours.ie, answering alarm calls.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma, or equivalent. 
  • Two (2) or more yearsโ€™ experience in material handling, warehouse operations, transportation and/or donated goods product flow.
  • Minimum of two (2) yearsโ€™ experience of increasing responsibility in supervision of team members.
  • Valid CA Class C Drivers' License and an MVR allowing insurable status.
  • Must have access to a reliable passenger vehicle and proof of auto insurance that supports completion of essential and ancillary functions of the position.
  • Previous experience driving large vehicles preferred ex; 26โ€™ Box truck, moving trucks, 5th wheel truck towing a trailer or camper, Cargo Van, Motorhomes, or similar type vehicles.
  • Access to a phone to receive emergency and coverage calls.
  • Required to have experience, understanding, and capacity to learn how to use heavy machinery including auto baler, compactor, tippers, vertical baler, forklift.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle occasional conflict, addressing issues and solving problems in a practical and healthy manner.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Continuous exposure to all weather elements/conditions resulting from regularly working indoors and outside.  Walking surfaces include asphalt, concrete, dirt, tile, linoleum, carpet including uneven surfaces.  Constant exposure to moving machinery and vehicles.  Moderate to loud continuous noise level. Moderate dust level exposure. Private office with standard office equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Standing, sitting, walking intermittently throughout work shift.  Frequently lifting up to 50 pounds.  Bending, twisting, stooping, pulling, pushing, reaching, and grasping. Gross manual dexterity skills required.  Visual acuity, hearing and verbal skills required.
