Job description

Has the responsibility and authority, under the Shop Managers direction, to oversee shipping and receiving operations with regard to company truck, UPS and Fed-Ex, perform inspections, and to supervise truck drivers and packing personnel.

Responsibilities

1. Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for

shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weigh, or measure items of

incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

2. Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.

3. Affix shipping labels on packed boxes or cartons.

4. Assemble wooden or cardboard containers, select preassembled containers or

customer’s packaging methods.

5. Insert items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.

6. Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.

7. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages

and corresponds with office to rectify damages, shortages and/or missing paperwork.

8. Identify work prior to and after the finishing processes, and maintain traceability

throughout.

9. Deliver jobs to and from receiving room into appropriate departments.

10. Responsible for part of the receiving inspection and safely handling customer work.

11. Preserve Quality of customer’s work.

12. Responsible for counting and performing final inspections on all work.

13. Ensure commercial and private jobs are properly inventoried prior to processing and packaged when completed.

14. Sign off final review on job travelers.

15. Sign job certifications.

16. Make sure all process coupons are processed with the job; tests are carried out, brought up front and inventoried for storage.

17. Assist in pricing jobs.

18. Verifies, inventories, and stamps certification of purchased product in accordance with procedures.

19. Keep inventory of shop supplies and packaging supplies.

20. Refills supply cabinets.

21. Operate standard office equipment including:

-photocopy machine -postage meter -calculator

22. Acts as liaison between shop and office.

23. Maintains and records product inventory books.

24. Maintains daily shop billing journal

25. Keep track of private job journal-records where in the shop job is located and when job is complete.

26. Assist in controlling, maintaining and recording nonconforming shop product and

supplier books.

27. Performs daily housekeeping of shipping area, office and boiler room.

28. Assists in continual improvement efforts and corrective actions.

29. Perform other related duties as assigned.
