Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Daily Warehouse Leadership

  • Assign daily work activities to warehouse associates.
  • Monitor workloads and labor utilization.
  • Coordinate loading, unloading, and material movement activities.
  • Provide hands-on leadership and support throughout the shift.
  • Ensure shift coverage for all warehouse functions.

Employee Development

  • Train and coach warehouse associates.
  • Conduct daily shift meetings.
  • Monitor employee performance and attendance.
  • Assist with onboarding new employees.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures.

Cross-Functional Coverage

  • Serve as backup support for critical supply chain positions including:
  • Shipping & Receiving Clerk
  • Material Planner
  • Purchasing (as assigned)
  • Warehouse Manager

Responsibilities may include:

    • Transportation scheduling
    • Production support activities
    • Purchase order administration
    • Customer shipment coordination
    • Inventory Control
    • System transactions and documentation

Inventory Management

  • Ensure inventory transactions are completed accurately.
  • Support cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Investigate inventory variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain proper inventory rotation using FIFO principles.
  • Support lot traceability and inventory control requirements.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure safe operation of powered industrial trucks and warehouse equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action activities when required.
  • Support housekeeping and 5S initiatives throughout warehouse operations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 5 – 10 hourly employees in the Warehouse Department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Possesses 2-4 years or related experience and is competent in the operation of spreadsheet and word processing programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Accuracy and organizational skills are required.
  • Strong math/accounting aptitude and detail oriented.
  • Ability to operate computer for data input and retrieval.
