Job Summary

Responsible for managing shipping and receiving activities in the distribution center, including preparing all necessary paperwork, such as customs documents, and operating material handling equipment to fulfill and receive orders.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Reviews shipping orders. Locates product in warehouse and prepares for shipment.

  • Loads/unloads material onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves by hand.

  • Prepares inventory for shipment. Properly bands and shrink wraps pallets, and attaches shipping labels.

  • Processes shipping orders using computerized shipping system.

  • Loads and unloads trucks.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Nature and Scope

  • Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.

  • Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.

Work Environment

  • Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking and/or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred.

  • 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations

  • Familiarity with computerized shipping, inventory, or warehouse management systems

  • Ability to accurately prepare shipments, apply shipping labels, and complete shipping documentation

  • Experience loading, unloading, palletizing, banding, and shrink-wrapping materials for shipment

  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment; certification preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when processing orders and inventory

  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely in a warehouse environment
