Job description

The Warehouse Team Lead will be responsible for providing assistance to the area Supervisor(s) by supporting team members with day to day picking, shipping, receiving, or inventory control activities.  This position will provide other basic team support which promotes communication, quality, safety and productivity including performing the hourly functional work in the area.


Warehouse Team Lead key responsibilities include:

  • Working with the supervisor to coach and motivate a team on day-to-day shipping, picking, receiving, or inventory control activities within the distribution center.
  • Working with the supervisor to ensure team members are fully trained to perform their assigned duties using “preferred methods” and complete/request additional training or cross training as needed.
  • Helping the supervisor ensure that all daily requirements are being met and any projects/processes meet deadlines.
  • Effectively communicating progress against daily volume and helping the supervisor assign work and adjust manpower throughout the shift to ensure store orders are processed in a timely manner and work hours are optimized.
  • Providing on the job training and procedural audits/behavioral observations for team members as needed.
  • Partnering with Support Coordinators to determine reasons for system inaccuracies as they occur and recommending methods to prevent future inventory issues.
  • Investigating inventory discrepancies (wrong quantity, product and location).
  • Performing duties of area distribution team member – recommended 25% of the shift.
  • Assisting with maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, good housekeeping practices, quality standards, OSHA and other government regulations.
  • Assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Warehouse Team Lead requirements include:

  • A High School Diploma or GED. Associates/Bachelor’s degree desired.
  • Solid basic computer skills.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of distribution processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills plus the ability to multi-task and work within deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to provide confident communications at all levels.
  • Strong leadership skills including ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow team members.
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions with minimal instructions.
