Job Description
Overview:
  • Oversee Shipping Department activities using the most cost effective methods possible while meeting customer delivery expectations.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Implement, maintain and support all company policies and procedures.
  • Provide training as necessary.
  • Conduct shift overlap meetings with oncoming shift Supervisor to minimize errors.
  • Coordinate forklift operators in the daily routine of loading trailers according to customer specifications.
  • Schedule deliveries using the most cost efficient, and time saving manner possible while still meeting customer expectations.
  • Coordinate and communicate with Customer Service concerning delivery of product to customers.
  • Accurately prepare bills of lading.
  • Review forklift inspection sheets daily and prepare maintenance work orders for needed repairs.
  • Ensure accurate stock locations in the shipping warehouse.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Able to speak, read, comprehend and write legibly in English
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy
  • Qualified Shipping Forklift Operator.
  • One year experience as a Forklift Operator preferred.
  • Supervisory experience as a proven manager/leader preferred.

Physical Demands:
  • The employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
  • Work space is not climate controlled and can reach both hot and cold extremes (30 degrees - 110 degrees Fahrenheit).
