Job description

The Shipping & Receiving Operator position is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments, including printing, picking, packing, and closing the orders and determines the method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates, In this role, you will be required to perform all tasks involved in the Shipping & Receiving of all material in the warehouse. And follow the standard work methods, practices, and safe habits to ensure material is received and shipped according to instructions.

Role Responsibilities

  • Unloading / Loading materials using fork-lift / pallet jacks from the LTL carriers or Production.
  • Physically receive, unload, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, invoices or against the inventory system if internal. Inspect and sort all items received, ensuring they are in good condition.
  • Report any inventory discrepancies or damaged items to the Supervisor.
  • Place items in designated warehouse racking and update inventory records.
  • Prepare outgoing shipments, including printing, picking, packing, and closing the orders. Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications require by the customers.
  • Uses Fed Ex / UPS systems or LTL websites to set up shipments and records tracking information into SAP.
  • Completes and files all applicable shipping related documents and records.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment, following safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize warehouse processes and improve efficiency.
  • Assist in conducting regular inventory audits and reconciliations.
  • Performs additional tasks and responsibilities at the discretion of the Director of Operations

Role Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Possesses mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on manufacturing equipment.
  • Basic computer, typing, and SAP experience preferred but not required
  • Shipping/ Receiving experience preferred with the ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to stand and walk for 90% of the day
  • Must be able to execute strenuous, sometimes repetitive physical work such as lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to 55 pounds on a regular basis
  • Oral communication skills which are clear, concise and effective. This position has daily production responsibilities, and ideally communicates regularly with the rest of the production team, as well as management.
  • Shipping/ Receiving experience preferred with the ability to multi-task and stay organized.
  • Hazmat Shipping certified; Has certification on how to properly package, document and ship Hazardous materials locally and internationally. This training will be provided and will be a requirement for the position.
