Position Summary

Reporting to the Shipping Manager, the Shipping & Receiving Clerk will coordinate the receiving and shipping of all incoming and outgoing product, materials, or supplies, and is responsible for the accuracy of shipping documents and verifying receiving receipts with open orders.  Will escalate to the Shipping Manager or Plant Manager when major discrepancies occur.

The ideal candidate will ensure quality, on-time delivery, and cost management to be successful in this role. They must effectively communicate with suppliers and internal team to ensure smooth transactions.

Position Responsibilities

  • Check orders put in shipping box against report and print those that are missing.
  • Check system when orders are processed to print allocation of product and give to shipping manager.
  • Write special instructions on orders and make sure all markings or labels are written down.
  • Make pallet labels for some outgoing shipments.
  • Receive calls from trucking companies to make pick up appointments.
  • Research freight rates and schedule any needed trucks.
  • Dispatch trucks.
  • Change product locations for inter-company transfers.
  • Schedule Daily phyto and USDA inspections.
  • Complete all paperwork for shipped orders and ship out in the system.
  • Fax Bill of Lading to customers.
  • Coordinate product and paperwork coming to and from each division.
  • Distribute work to forklift drivers when necessary.
  • During the season-Weigh truck in and out, get copies of paperwork, receive product into the system, schedule USDA and coordinate samples being pulled from each load are correct.
  • Follow all company safety, hygiene and work rules.
  • Perform all other job-related tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate is required
  • One year of related experience is required
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) is required
  • Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines while working on numerous ongoing projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively is required
  • Knowledge and/or understanding of the following programs and regulations pertaining to a food processing plant:
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
  • Food Safety
  • The role is performed on site at a facility that regularly processes tree nuts. Employees in this position will routinely work in areas where tree nuts and related allergens are present and may be exposed by contact or in the air. The pay for this role in the state of California is $24.39 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location.
