Job description

Job Title: Shipping and Receiving ManagerJob Description

This role leads all shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations for a growing aerospace precision machining facility. You will oversee material flow, inventory control, certification tracking, and documentation management while partnering closely with Production, Machining, and Quality teams. The position requires 3–5+ years of management experience and a strong background in aerospace or precision manufacturing. You will maintain key operational metrics, drive accountability, develop and coach team members, and ensure full compliance with customer and industry quality requirements. This role is critical to ensuring accurate movement of incoming and outgoing materials, maintaining material traceability, and managing all shipping documentation required in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring all inbound and outbound materials are processed accurately, on time, and in accordance with customer and industry requirements.
  • Oversee warehouse operations and logistics, including material staging, storage, and movement to support production and machining schedules.
  • Manage inventory control processes, including cycle counts, reconciliation, and use of material tracking systems and ERP tools to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Ensure complete material traceability by maintaining accurate records for all materials, components, and finished goods throughout the supply chain.
  • Oversee receiving inspection processes to verify that incoming materials meet specifications, documentation, and aerospace quality standards.
  • Manage shipping documentation, including packing lists, shipping labels, and related logistics paperwork, to ensure accurate and compliant outbound shipments.
  • Maintain and control documentation such as Certificates of Conformance (CoC), certification records, FAA documentation, and other aerospace quality documents.
  • Track and maintain compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and other aerospace quality standards as they relate to shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy, on-time delivery, and warehouse efficiency, and report results to leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and root cause analysis to optimize warehouse workflows and material handling processes.
  • Lead and develop the shipping and receiving team through coaching, mentoring, training, and performance management.
  • Implement and manage corrective action and disciplinary processes when necessary, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
  • Plan workforce requirements, including scheduling, workload balancing, and staffing to support production and logistics needs.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Machining, Quality, and other cross-functional teams to align material availability with production scheduling and customer commitments.
  • Manage NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) related to shipping, receiving, and inventory issues, and lead root cause and corrective action efforts.
  • Ensure proper use of RF scanners, material tracking systems, and ERP systems for accurate data entry and real-time inventory visibility.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse environment through 5S practices and adherence to established procedures.
  • Support documentation control processes to ensure all records are complete, accurate, and readily accessible for audits and customer requirements.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the shipping, receiving, and warehouse teams.
