Job description

    • The Material Handler moves product and material safely and efficiently in the production area, the warehouse area, or in shipping and receiving using a forklift and other material handling equipment. Also responsible for organization of material & cleanliness of plant floor.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      Operation

      Use sit down forklift, clamp truck (process specific), and manual and/or electric pallet jack as required to safely transport product and material among loading, processing, and storage areas, and to load and unload trucks.

      Place an empty gaylord (process specific) for each zone at the start of the shift & during shift as needed.

      Load and unload product and material manually or mechanically from pallets or skids for transport to designated areas.

      Pick, wrap, and stage orders to be shipped, and create, generate and attach label as required

      Use Warehouse Management System to maintain transactions that validate the processing and disposition of product and materials sent to the warehouse. Use RF scanner to scan transactions to the system.

      Support

      Assist with training new warehouse employees.

      Assist with daily, monthly and year end cycle counts.

      Reporting and Record Keeping

      Perform and document daily inspection of the forklift and other material handling equipment and follow reporting procedures to communicate and resolve any maintenance or safety issues.

      Record data on specified forms and complete required documentation.

      Maintenance

      Perform housekeeping and sanitation tasks to maintain a clean and maintain an orderly work area.

      Compliance/Other tasks

      Comply with all company policies and procedures including GMP, PPE, HACCP, and JSA regulations.

      Responsible for ensuring, where applicable, the product safety, quality, regulatory compliance and legality of all products produced and sold.
