Material Handler - Shipping - 1st Shift

Shipping MH1 is responsible for the handling of tile and tile-related products in a variety of applications to distribute quality products to The Tile Shop stores and their customers. Material handlers must maintain a clean, neat, safe and organized work area while having the ability to manually move and lift 50 lbs. regularly and frequently move and lift to or over 100 lbs. Material handlers must have the ability to work a scheduled shift and follow direction. #SmartJobs

Responsibilities
  • Use wireless RF device or desktop computer to perform all Bar Code functions, which include but are not limited to pull, put away, ship confirm, and inventory lookup.
  • Select the correct pick ticket to determine items to be picked, packed, palletized or shipped.
  • Convey pallets, boxes and items from bin locations to staging areas, build areas, pallets or crates.
  • Manually lift, move, sort, carry or place boxes and items onto / off pallets and into / out of crates.
  • Ensures inventory accuracy for item or location being picked, packed, palletized, shipped or put away to or from the bin location.
  • Participates in cycle counting program as needed.
  • Correctly use a variety of equipment including but not limited to sit-down forklift, order picker, automatic wrapping machine, 2-wheeled cart, and pallet jack.
  • Inspect, use, and maintain equipment in good working order.
  • Ensure that all pallets and items are clearly and accurately labeled, whether outbound to customers or returning to bin location.
  • Acquire the knowledge of the inventory process by documenting count discrepancies and providing to leadership.
  • Securely build and wrap pallets and crates in a timely fashion.
  • Learn and apply necessary skills needed to effectively work the table area i.e. banding pallets, proper placement of tape, DE trashing a pallet, proper team lift, product placement, tag placement etc. This may also include swatch assembly in the ECOMM department where applicable.
  • Acquire the necessary skills to understand and implement all areas of responsibility to utilize the RF unit in a team setting (gun runner) including the ability to safely and effectively learn the cutter responsibility in the ECOMM department where applicable.
  • Study and understand the picking process to maximize efficiency and accuracy when pulling in the Trim category and/or understanding how to read and understand the information and its purpose when reading the production report for ECOMM.
  • Acquire the knowledge to maximize efficiency and accuracy when pick, pack and shipping in the Chem category to also include the ability to process shipments for the ECOMM department when applicable.
  • Utilizing standard procedures for inventory movement and adjustments.
  • Inspect, use, and maintain equipment in good working order.
  • Adhere to all established company safety policies.
  • Meet scheduled attendance requirements; may work long hours which might include nights and weekends when necessary to reach goals.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and organized working environment.
  • Work in other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Forklift, reach truck, and order picker certification or willing to be certified.
  • Basic organizational, mathematical, and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of proper safety measures.
  • Ability to manually move and lift 50 lbs. regularly and frequently up to and over 100 lbs.
  • Ability to work at varying heights.
  • Ability to stand frequently as well as the ability to walk, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Ability to work independently or with a group.
