Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To manifest and load outbound shipments for customers and to unload and manifest inbound loads from the SAN Wet Plant. To remove or enter any needed information according to company requirements. ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Unloading - Unload incoming trailers into appropriate location. While unloading perform 100% inspection of pallet and product. Complete manual paperwork of inspection and turn in paperwork printed from RFGEN showing trailer is empty and product is in correct location. If adjustments need to be made, make adjustment in RFGEN and fill out paperwork to turn into management. Consolidate and combine lot numbers using RFGEN to manage partial pallets. Loading - Pick the load using RFGEN to find the oldest product in the warehouse (FEFO) Use the pick slip (customer's paperwork) to identify and match the correct trailer number and order. Also, count pallets to ensure the order that is picked is correct. Stage load for inspection. Inspect load thoroughly. Print BOL and packing slips, selecting the correct pallet type, trailer number, and customer. Apply Customer labels to each specific pallet. Load trailer to correct pattern. Each customer requires different load patterns based on the number of pallets on each load. Secure load, using airbags, straps, and load bars. Creates and places label on pallet to be scanned into system. Completes manual paperwork written by hand, verifies all paperwork and ensures documents are correct and matches product on pallets. Enters all necessary information concerning pallets, type of product, counts and number of trailer that product is loaded onto into computer to generate bill of laden. Must be well organized and keep up with different license plates. Verifies and checks pallets on all inbound and outbound loads. Check trailer upon arrival and verifies that pallets match to load on computer and have correct number of pallets. Assures pallets are scanned with proper case count, weights and dates after it is loaded on to truck. Assists with and ensures that wrapping machine is working properly. Performs 100% inspection. Walks around each pallet with flashlight, raises pallet to inspect for pest and damaged good. Participates as a member of the team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T. practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization. Simmons operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas. Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Warehouse Associate and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position. Physical Activities: Must be able to work in temperature extremes (below 40 to over 100 degrees), dry, and noisy environment, work on feet and/or forklift for entire shift. Be able to lift or move product up to 55 pounds in weight from floor to shoulder height repeatedly. Must be able to climb up and down stairs/ladders as needed or required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Will use head covering, ear plugs (as needed) skid resistant, steel toe shoes, forklift seat belt, and any other protective equipment as needed or required. Travel: NA Technical Experience: Preferred experience in shipping and receiving, working with large moving equipment. Industry Experience: Preference experience in Warehouse Shipping and/or Receiving. Minimum Education: Must be able to read, write and speak English, and perform basic math. Must be able to obtain and pass a company issued annual written and driving forklift test. Preferred Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
