Parcel Shipping Associate
Location: Detroit, MI
Pay: $20/hr
Job Summary
The Parcel Shipping Associate plays a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely movement of equipment through warehouse operations and ecommerce platforms. This position is responsible for all aspects of small package and parcel shipping, including packing odd-sized and fragile industrial equipment, verifying part numbers, and inspecting quality prior to shipment. The role also supports ecommerce and online sales activity by fulfilling orders, assisting customers, and helping resolve issues. This position serves as a vital link between the warehouse floor and online sales to keep inventory flowing smoothly, accurately, and safely.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Parcel Shipping Associate, your core responsibilities may include:
Safely operating a forklift to pick and move equipment.
Packing equipment using SpeedyPacker, stretch wrap, banding, and other protective materials.
Handling odd-sized and used industrial equipment with care to ensure secure shipments.
Pulling, picking, and staging items accurately for shipping.
Verifying part numbers, quantities, and quality of outgoing items.
Inspecting equipment for defects or damage and reporting issues.
Assisting with receiving inbound deliveries, including triaging equipment for listing.
Supporting additional warehouse duties such as inventory audits, listings, and general organization.
Providing customer service support by resolving order issues, coordinating shipping details, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Assisting with ecommerce operations including monitoring orders, answering buyer questions, and helping resolve disputes or returns.
Qualifications:
High school diploma preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
Thorough knowledge of industrial equipment is a plus.
Skills:
Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
Forklift experience required.
Familiarity with SpeedyPacker or similar packaging equipment preferred.
Experience with eBay or other ecommerce platforms is a plus.
Strong customer service skills including problem-solving and professional communication.
Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when verifying parts and paperwork.
Reliable, team-oriented, safety-conscious mindset.
Working Conditions
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and traverse warehouse and facility spaces as needed.
