Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Shipping Team Lead supports daily warehouse operations by guiding and training team members to meet production, quality, and service goals. This role ensures compliance with safety standards, communicates performance updates to the Supervisor, and assists with workflow coordination. The Team Lead also performs shipping tasks, operates powered equipment, and maintains accurate product and task records in the PkMS system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists the Supervisor by providing direction and training to employees within the work team to ensure production rates, quality standards, and service goals are achieved.
  • Monitors team members for compliance with safety policies, housekeeping standards, and safe work practices.
  • Keeps the Supervisor informed of production rates, training needs, performance issues, improvement opportunities, and personnel concerns.
  • Performs production functions within the assigned work group at established performance rates as needed.
  • Operates powered equipment to move, stage, or ship product as required.
  • Accurately maintains records of product movement and task completion using the PkMS system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Working knowledge of PkMS or related Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Ability to complete work assignments and projects in a timely and efficient manner with minimal follow-up.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively give and receive instructions.
  • Proven reliability and strong attendance record.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to train and direct others to complete assigned tasks.
  • Must demonstrate a positive attitude, integrity, support for company goals, and the ability to lead by example.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to encourage others to achieve department goals.
  • Must be Guitar Center certified to operate powered equipment, or willing and able to obtain certification if selected.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and inventory accuracy.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior warehouse experience preferred.
  • Prior leadership experience is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMAND AND WORK EFFORT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Continuous mental and/or visual attention; the work requires constant alertness in a warehouse environment.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time and work in hot conditions during summer months.
  • The noise level is moderate.
  • Able to lift 30-40 lbs on a frequent basis and able to lift up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis.
  • The physical demand typically applied in this job includes lifting, pulling, reaching, carrying, pushing, standing, walking, stooping, and bending.
