What You'll Do
You will manage records of incoming and outgoing shipments by coordinating product acceptance, delivery, and storage. You will resolve issues related to damages, shortages, and nonconformance, and ensure accurate documentation and communication with carriers and customers. Occasional travel by automobile and airplane may be required for business purposes.
Essential Functions
  • Coordinate with representatives and carriers to resolve problems such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
  • Arrange shipping and delivery of materials and determine appropriate shipping methods based on procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Examine shipment contents and verify accuracy against records such as manifests, invoices, or orders.
  • Prepare and maintain shipping documents including work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders.
  • Record and report shipment data including weight, charges, space availability, damages, and discrepancies for accounting and recordkeeping.
  • Maintain correspondence with customers and document all communications to resolve discrepancies.
  • Provide assistance in answering telephones, resolving distribution center issues, and supporting warehouse operations as needed.
  • Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary.

What Experience and Education You Need
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred or minimum 1 year of work experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Experience using calculators, desktop computers, and photocopiers.
