Retail Sales Associate

Starting Pay: $18.50 per Hour

The UPS Store at American University is seeking a Retail Sales Associate to provide exceptional customer service and support a wide range of shipping, printing, and business service needs. Associates work directly with customers, recommend products and services, and communicate information clearly and professionally.

Team members may work at both our American University campus location and our Tenleytown location on Wisconsin Avenue.

Who We're Looking For

This position is ideal for current undergraduate or graduate students attending American University or another Washington, DC-area college or university.

Previous retail experience is not required. We are looking for friendly, dependable individuals who enjoy helping others, learn quickly, and take pride in providing outstanding customer service. Successful candidates are motivated, professional, and eager to learn all aspects of the business.

Associates typically work 20-30 hours per week. Store hours are:

Monday-Friday: 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Sunday: 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

What You'll Do

• Provide outstanding customer service to walk-in customers and telephone inquiries
• Listen carefully to customer needs and recommend appropriate products and services
• Assist customers with shipping, printing, mailbox, and business service solutions
• Learn and maintain knowledge of all products, services, and company procedures
• Operate store equipment, software, and point-of-sale systems accurately and efficiently
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Work collaboratively with team members and assist with other duties as needed

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college or university program
• Available to work during summer break (May-August)
• Excellent listening, communication, and customer service skills
• Strong attention to detail, including basic math and keyboarding skills
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Willing and able to work 15-30 hours per week
