This opportunity is located within our EnviroLogix business that develops and manufactures testing solutions for detecting GMOs, mycotoxins, plant pathogens, natural toxins and chemical contaminants in multiple agricultural matrices.

Job Description

Position Summary

EnviroLogix is seeking a driven and results-oriented Shipping and Receiving Lead with a strong continuous improvement mindset. The primary role of the Shipping and Receiving Lead is to manage key functions of shipping and receiving department including receiving products, shipping products to customers, final finished goods packaging and inspection, and coordinating shipments with customer service as needed. This dynamic role offers autonomy to lead the warehouse in a manner consistent with our Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) metrics while receiving people leadership support and general guidance from the Supervisor, Operations.

Responsibilities Include:

Operational Excellence & Strategic Execution

  • Create daily schedules and define and allocate labor needs
  • Ensure the warehouse is ready at the start of every shift
  • Lead daily team production huddle including reviewing visual management of prior day's performance and plan for current day
  • Maintain Visual Boards and present to Ops leadership, daily
  • Issuing Material and Labor to Jobs in ERP System
  • Verify process start-up and quality checks are conducted
  • Execute daily shipping schedule and verify OTD goals are achieved
  • Identify escalations and identify immediate countermeasures
  • Communicate effectively cross functionally to solve issues and meet goals
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of lot and part numbers, inventory and shipping paperwork
  • When needed, receive and inspect incoming deliveries, including physically unloading and inventory into warehouse and within ERP system (IFS)
  • When needed, prepare outgoing shipments. Assuring quality of all aspects of outgoing shipments of products (labels, paperwork, packaging)
  • Support kitting team when needed with additional printing, kitting, pulling material support
  • Coordinate with customer service to ensure order delivery timing can be met
  • Coordinate labor assignments to cover for absenteeism and vacations
  • Train team members and coordinate cross-training, providing thorough documentation/checklists to operators
  • Verify standard work is followed and maintain up to date documentation. Initiate, review and approve Document Change Requests
  • Following EnviroLogix safety policies and procedures, and for reporting any unsafe or hazardous condition to their supervisor or the Environmental, Health, and Safety department for corrective action
  • The expectation of this role is 50% allocation to direct production labor functions with the remainder of the time used for indirect labor responsibilities associated with maximizing SQDC of the team, per descriptions above
  • This role will at times be expected to directly participate in the EnviroLogix production process. While not a primary responsibility, this is a standard expectation in the Operations team to support seasonality spikes

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Update standard work processes and documents where outdated and ensure proper change management from both a document and production execution perspective
  • Drive problem solving, corrective actions, and identification of systemic issues.
  • Evaluate team activities for continuous improvement opportunities. Lead improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with the Ensign Bickford Operating System (EBOS) leader to identify continuous improvement and kaizen opportunities within warehouse

Skills Required:

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with domestic and international shipping practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high SQDC standards
  • Basic math to document production results
  • Self-motivated, execution oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive work ethic and passionate attitude
  • Embrace and sustain change for the better
  • Proven ability to work well in team environment with sound negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; especially Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written to work smoothly with a team, cooperate with and support co-workers
  • Experience with ERP systems is preferred

Requirements:

  • 2 - 5 years experience within manufacturing operations
  • High school diploma required. Associates or Bachelor's degree in related field (Manufacturing, Supply Chain) preferred
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

Physical Demands:

  • Bend, stoop, carry, climb stairs/rolling stairs (max one flight) Ability to lift and move boxes up to 50 pounds
  • Regular exposure to temperature changes (generally room temp, with occasional short movement in/out of walk-in coolers/freezers)
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Eye/hand dexterity and speed while maintaining high standards for quality and consistency. Ability to utilize a computer

The anticipated range for this position is: $65,000 - $75,000 per year. Salary is determined in good faith based on factors such as the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, requirements of the position, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
