Location: Houston, TX 77032
Salary: 20.00 – 22.00 an hour (Temp to hire)
Time: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Shipping & Receiving Coordinator with a minimum of 4 years in a freight forwarding or warehouse logistics environment. This role is responsible for managing inbound and outbound shipments, coordinating with customers on-site, and ensuring accurate, timely handling of freight. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and excels in customer communication within a fast-paced warehouse setting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily shipping and receiving operations, including scheduling inbound and outbound freight
  • Verify and process shipping documents (BOLs, packing lists, invoices, etc.) for accuracy and compliance
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers on-site, providing updates, resolving issues, and ensuring a high level of service
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, carriers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Inspect incoming shipments for damage or discrepancies and document findings
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and update warehouse management systems
  • Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of freight in accordance with company and regulatory standards
  • Track shipments and proactively address delays or service issues
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as needed
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years of experience in shipping & receiving, preferably within a freight forwarding or 3PL environment
Must have stand-up reach truck experience
Strong knowledge of logistics documentation and freight processes
Proven experience working directly with customers in a warehouse setting
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, email, etc.)
Forklift certification is a plus
Preferred Skills
Experience coordinating LTL, FTL, air, and ocean shipments
Familiarity with international shipping documentation and compliance
Customer service mindset with the ability to build strong working relationships
Work Environment
Warehouse setting with regular interaction on the floor
