Position Summary

The Shipping Checker is responsible for ensuring the accurate receipt, verification, documentation and shipment of products to support efficient warehouse operations and exceptional customer service. This role maintains inventory accuracy by inspecting incoming and outgoing shipments, reconciling discrepancies and processing receiving and shipping transactions within the warehouse management system. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with warehouse personnel, transportation providers, and internal departments.

What You'll Do

  • Verify products being received and shipped to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Match physical inventory to purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, shipping documents, and other associated paperwork.
  • Inspect products for accuracy, damage, and proper labeling prior to receipt or shipment.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical inventory and receiving or shipping documentation.
  • Accurately record and maintain receiving and shipping information in the warehouse management system (WMS) or other company systems.
  • Prepare routine reports related to receiving, shipping, inventory accuracy, and operational performance.
  • Respond promptly to internal and external inquiries regarding receiving, shipping, inventory status, or documentation.
  • Coordinate with warehouse personnel, drivers, and supervisors to ensure timely and accurate order processing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Shipping Manager, Warehouse Manager, or Facility Manager.

What You’ll Bring 

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of shipping, receiving, warehouse, or inventory control experience.
  • Experience working with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, or similar inventory management software.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Preferred 

  • Experience operating material handling equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks (certification preferred).
  • Experience with RF scanners and barcode inventory systems.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, industrial, or distribution warehouse operations.

Target Compensation Range: The posted range of $16.50-$17.50 represents the anticipated hiring range for this position. Individual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, geographic location, market conditions, internal compensation practices, and other job-related business considerations, consistent with applicable law.
