Job description

Role Overview
The Freight Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for the accurate, efficient, and safe handling of inbound and outbound freight within our Client’s production and fulfillment environment. This role ensures that materials, components, and finished goods are received, inspected, documented, stored, picked, packed, and shipped in alignment with Heckler’s operational standards and brand expectations.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production flow, and ensuring that customers receive complete, damage-free shipments on time.
Key Responsibilities
Inbound Freight & Receiving

  • Receive inbound shipments (LTL, FTL, parcel) and verify against purchase orders and packing slips

  • Inspect incoming materials for damage, accuracy, and quality

  • Accurately record receipts in Odoo ERP, including quantities, lot tracking (if applicable), and discrepancies

  • Coordinate with purchasing and production teams to resolve receiving issues

  • Label, stage, and put away inventory in designated locations

Inventory Control & Warehouse Organization

  • Maintain accurate inventory counts through disciplined receiving, transfers, and cycle counting

  • Support regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits

  • Ensure warehouse locations are clearly labeled, organized, and optimized for efficient picking

  • Maintain FIFO practices where applicable

Order Fulfillment & Shipping

  • Pick, pack, and prepare outbound orders for shipment (freight and parcel)

  • Build pallets, crates, and protective packaging to ensure safe transit of finished goods

  • Generate shipping labels, bills of lading, and commercial invoices using Odoo and related systems

  • Coordinate carrier pickups (LTL, FTL, parcel) and ensure proper documentation is attached

  • Verify outbound shipments for accuracy and completeness prior to dispatch

Freight Handling & Equipment Operation

  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently

  • Load and unload trucks with attention to weight distribution and product protection

  • Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to OSHA and company safety standards

Cross-Functional Support

  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and customer service teams to ensure smooth material flow

  • Support kitting, staging, and light assembly tasks as needed

  • Assist in packaging design feedback to improve protection and efficiency

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations

  • Experience with LTL/FTL freight and parcel shipping processes

  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Odoo preferred) and shipping platforms (ShipStation or similar)

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

  • Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 75 lbs) and stand for extended periods

  • Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in a manufacturing or high-mix, low-volume production environment

  • Familiarity with commercial packaging standards and palletization best practices

  • Experience preparing international shipments and commercial documentation
