ABOUT THE ROLE

The individual functioning in this capacity will generate boatload information to the proper areas, ensure that proper load blending is achieved and will process all necessary paperwork. All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and the individual works as a team member. The primary responsibility of this position is that of boatload specialist.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Generates boatload information to sales administrative assistant, loading vessels, distribution, terminals, and Inland Lakes Management.
  • Fills in for Shipping Leader as required
  • Communicates boatload information to department, distribution and terminal personnel.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the loading system.
  • Responsible for loading to be done in an environmentally safe fashion.
  • Recreates cargo designs based on changing conditions.
  • Operates boat-loading system.
  • Responsible for proper load blending.
  • Processes boatload papers, transfer schedules and bills of lading.
  • Generates boatload information via the computer.
  • Follows ISO procedures and SOP's for proper operation.
  • Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to assure that environment, health and safety are the first priority of the business.  Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist the department as needed to improve EHS performance and results.
  • To include all dimensions of Shipper Advanced.
  • Quality Control - Maintains quality of three types of cement totaling 2,650,000 tons.
  • Vessel Load Specialist - Loads approximately 200 vessels per year with 3 types of cement totaling ~2,650,000 tons
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.  Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent or n/a years of equivalent experience.

Additional Education Preferred:  Associate's degree

Field of Study Preferred:  College or technical school experience preferred
Required Work Experience:  Demonstrated proficiency in the duties of a Shipper Advanced and a minimum of 12 months of experience as a Shipper Advanced.

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with all duties associated with storage operations.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the working operation of all equipment and controls in the boat loading tower.
  • Knowledge of load blending instructions.
  • Ability to recreate cargo designs.
  • Trained in vessel stern manuals.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic lab quality training - two week course under the direction of the QC Department.
  • Trained in "Stearn's Report" for the proper cargo design and loading procedures.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee will frequently be required to walk on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently/occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, confined space, outside weather conditions, low lighting, artificial lighting, and explosives. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
