Job description

As a store associate, you’ll be responsible for packing and shipping, merchandising and stocking boxes and other retail products, handling cash register, and cleaning to keep the store looking its best. You’ll enhance the customer shopping experience by working collaboratively with The UPS Store team and providing exceptional customer service.

Position Type: Full-Time
Average Hours: 35+ hours per week
Starting Wage: $17.50 per hour
Wage Increases: Year 2 - $18.00 | Year 3 - $18.50 | Year 4 - $18.50 | Year 5 - $20

Must‐Have Qualifications

• Accurately rings up products and services
• Properly utilizes the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately scan and process customer shipments and box purchases

• Adheres to cash handling, return and refund policies and procedures.
• Stocks shelves and displays neatly while following merchandising planograms to maximize sales.
• Completes all mandatory web-based training within 30 days of starting position.
• Assists store management in achieving operational efficiency and sales goals.
• Adheres to standard sales pitch and standard customer greetings.
• Complies with all established company policies and processes.
• Supports store management in providing a safe working environment by identifying and rectifying hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics, and maintaining equipment in proper working order.
• Adheres to inventory procedures and product handling guidelines.
• Performs general and store cleaning tasks to company standards.

Physical Demands:

• Required to push, pull, sit, stand, reach, grasp, twist, bend, and move from one area to another.
• Required to lift, carry, and place product weighing up to 50 pounds on shelves at various heights, including overhead.

• Required to operate equipment such as a cash register, computer, finger print capture device, copier, large format printer, fax machine, stapler, key cutter, portable printer, laminator, paper cutter, & box cutter.
• Required to stock product in varying temperatures, including freezer and cooler environments.
• Required to use multipurpose cleaning products to keep counters, glass, merchandise clean.

Qualifications:

• Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.
• Ability to operate all store equipment
• Ability to interpret and apply The UPS Store operating policies and procedures.
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

• Ability to effectively type on a computer keyboard with decent speed and accuracy
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and with others.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and complete assigned tasks to maximize productivity within established timeframes.
• Ability to maintain reliable and prompt attendance.
• Ability to meet availability requirements.

Education and Experience:

• At least 18 years old required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior work experience in a retail environment preferred.
