Shipping Dock Associate

Since 1995, Perrin Sportswear has led the way in the decorated apparel industry, setting high standards for quality and innovation. Based in Comstock Park, MI, our facility is where we design, decorate, warehouse, and distribute top-notch screen-printed and embroidered apparel. Our products are trusted by major destinations like Theme Parks, Zoos, Aquariums, Museums, Airports, National Parks, and Resort Marketplaces across the country.

The Shipping Dock Associate is responsible for efficiently loading shipments onto trucks using pallet jacks or hand dollies, working within UPS World Ship, FedEx Ship Manager, and other automated warehouse systems. This role ensures timely order completion and delivery by following production priorities and maintaining standard work procedures for the shipping area. This position can be very physically demanding.

Essential Duties:

  • Load shipments onto trucks using a pallet jack or hand dolly
  • Work within UPS World Ship, FedEx Ship Manager and other Automated Warehouse Systems
  • Follow production priorities to ensure timely order completion and delivery
  • Learn and maintain standard work procedures for the shipping area
  • Communicate with the Zone Leader to ensure proper and timely shipment of orders
  • Verify outgoing orders for completeness, accuracy, and quality
  • Safely operate wrapper machines and material handling equipment (dollies and hand jacks)
  • Perform miscellaneous dock duties such as boxing, catching, folding, and dock setup as needed
  • Continuously seek ways to improve safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Collaborate with area staff to maintain a 5S clean and organized department
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace
  • Ensure safety devices are maintained on all equipment and communicate with appropriate personnel
  • Follow established guidelines for safety, including wearing proper PPE and checking for safety hazards

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of in-bound Shipping Dock experience required
  • Minimum of 1 year of UPS World Ship or FedEx Ship Manager experience required
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills with employees and all levels of manufacturing
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills - Adobe, Microsoft, Outlook
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Proven steady work history
  • Must pass a 4-panel drug screen and a 7-year background check
  • Proficient in reading and writing in English
  • GED or High School Diploma required
  • Ability to work overtime when needed

Physical Requirements & Conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis for 8+ hours.
  • Ability to stand and walk for 8+ hours per day
  • Experience using a pallet jack and hand dolly to load shipments
  • Comfortable working in moderate to hot temperatures in an unairconditioned environment

Hours:

  • Full-time position with occasional, voluntary overtime
  • Monday โ€“ Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
