Key Responsibilities

Shift & Operations Management

  • Lead cafe operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
  • Support beverage preparation and quality control, especially during peak hours.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and a welcoming atmosphere throughout the cafe.
  • Monitor and restock inventory, supplies, and prep materials during shifts.
  • Open and/or close the cafe in accordance with company procedures.

Team Leadership & Support

  • Supervise front- and back-of-house team members during shifts.
  • Provide on-the-spot training, coaching, and support to team members.
  • Act as the shift point-of-contact for escalated guest issues or employee concerns.
  • Ensure team adherence to policies, including food safety, cleanliness, and customer service standards.

Customer Service & Experience

  • Foster a warm, personalized guest experience that reflects the cafe's values and culture.
  • Engage with customers to create strong community connections.
  • Ensure all beverages and service exceed guest expectations.
  • Address guest concerns quickly and professionally, aiming to resolve them on the spot.

Operational Support

  • Assist the General Manager in daily administrative tasks, including shift scheduling, inventory logging, and supply orders.
  • Communicate shift performance, issues, or feedback to management.
  • Monitor and record key operational metrics (e.g. speed of service, product consistency, and team readiness).

What We're Looking For

Experience & Skills

  • 1-2 years of experience in a cafe, coffee shop, or fast-casual food/beverage setting (Starbucks or similar experience a plus).
  • Strong leadership qualities and a team-first mindset.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Passion for coffee, chai, and creating exceptional customer experiences.
  • Ability to multitask and lead by example in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience supervising shifts or small teams is preferred.
  • Familiarity with drink preparation (coffee, chai, espresso-based drinks).
  • ServeSafe certification (or willingness to obtain) is a plus.
  • Must be available for morning and/or evening shifts, and occasional weekends or holidays.
