Lead and support a team providing daily care and services for individuals with disabilities in a residential setting.
About the Role
To The Rescue is hiring a Human Services Lead to support individuals with developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and mental health needs in residential homes throughout the Cedar Rapids area. This is a hands-on lead role that combines direct support, staff mentoring, scheduling coordination, and oversight of daily operations within the home.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring others, staying organized, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities.
Key
ResponsibilitiesMember Support & Direct Care
Provide hands-on support with daily living activities, medication administration, transportation, appointments, and community involvement
Help members work toward goals related to independence, safety, communication, and daily living skills
Support members with personal hygiene, meal preparation, housekeeping, recreation, money management, and other daily needs as outlined in care plans
Complete daily documentation accurately and on time
Team Leadership & House Operations
Work alongside and support Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) within the home environment
Create and maintain monthly staff schedules while helping coordinate shift coverage
Review payroll, timesheets, and documentation for accuracy and compliance
Help oversee the day-to-day operations, safety, and cleanliness of the home environment
Coordinate medical appointments and support member advocacy related to healthcare needs when needed
Documentation, Compliance & Communication
Review documentation and medication oversight processes to help ensure compliance with HCBS standards, Medicaid requirements, and company policies
Maintain strong written communication, accurate documentation, and effective use of technology systems to support compliance and daily operations
Communicate regularly with leadership, staff, medical professionals, guardians, and support teams regarding member needs and services
Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to staffing or member support needs as required
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Previous experience as a DSP, caregiver, or in human services preferred
Prior leadership or supervisory experience is a plus
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation and compliance standards
Ability to confidently use computers, documentation software, basic technology tools, and writing abilities for daily documentation and incident reports
Schedule & Requirements
Full-time 2nd shift position requiring flexibility based on operational and staffing needs
Participation in an on-call rotation is required (approximately one week every four weeks)
Valid driverโs license and eligibility for company vehicle insurance required
Local travel within the Cedar Rapids area may be required
