Job Summary
The Assistant Plant Manager supports the Plant Manager in overseeing all aspects of processing plant operations. This role assists in managing daily operations, including orders, inventories, staffing, machine efficiency, scheduling, and time management. The Assistant Manager helps ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations and works closely with various department heads to maintain efficient and safe plant operations.
Essential Job Functions
  • Support the Plant Manager in promoting a culture of safety and teamwork
  • Assist in leading and developing plant staff to meet corporate and plant goals
  • Help manage production costs through effective utilization of resources
  • Support the execution of customer orders with high quality and efficiency
  • Assist in managing egg and packaging inventories
  • Help oversee plant supplies management, including chemicals, labels, and PPE
  • Support the creation of a positive work environment to enhance employee performance and retention
  • Assist in budget development and control of operating expenditures
  • Help implement and improve operating processes and procedures
  • Support compliance with FDA, DNR, EPA, USDA regulations, GMPs, and SQF Program
  • Assist in maintaining SE Prevention, Animal Welfare, and Bio-Security Programs
  • Collaborate with other departments to foster a unified team culture
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years in food processing or manufacturing industries
  • 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role
  • Experience working with USDA or other regulatory bodies
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and computer literacy โ€ข Ability to lift 50lbs and perform various physical tasks

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Business, Industrial Management, or related field; or equivalent experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience with SQF certification and food safety programs
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles

Work Environment
This position involves both office work and presence on the production floor. The role requires the ability to work in various climate conditions, including extreme temperatures. Some physical demands include standing, walking, and sitting for long periods. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed is required. The Assistant Plant Manager must be comfortable in a fast-paced, sometimes high-stress environment, and be able to multitask effectively.
