Position Overview:

The Sr. Manager, Turnarounds provides strategic leadership and governance for all turnaround activities at Motiva's Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex. This role is accountable for developing and executing long-term turnaround strategies that align with site operational and company business objectives while ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery. This position reports to the Director, Maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with plant operations, maintenance, engineering, and senior leadership to develop multi-year turnaround strategies aligned with asset integrity, reliability, and business performance goals.
  • Collaborate with department leadership teams to establish turnaround policies, define project priorities, and ensure cross-functional alignment and integration.
  • Integrate capital projects, maintenance events, and reliability initiatives into cohesive turnaround plans.
  • Provide strategic oversight and guidance to turnaround project management teams.
  • Serve as primary liaison between turnaround leadership and site leadership team, delivering clear communication on performance, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to Process Safety Management (PSM) and environmental regulations.
  • Establish and enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Lead risk assessments and drive continuous improvement in hazard mitigation practices.
  • Implement lessons learned processes to improve cost control, productivity, and schedule reliability across future events.
  • Develop current and future leaders within the Turnaround team.

Experience and Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience working in refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial operations, with a strong focus on turnaround/shutdown execution
  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership/supervisory role managing large scale turnarounds
  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Demonstration of Motiva's values and behaviors
  • Proven track record of delivering results through others
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build strong professional relationships at all levels of the organization

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or in a similar technical discipline

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots, and hearing protection)
