JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary: A physical therapy aide/technician is a non-licensed person who aids in the practice of physical therapy, and who at all times acts under the orders, direction, and on-site supervision of a licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. An aide may perform physical therapy related activities that are assigned and are commensurate with an aide’s training and abilities. An aide shall not perform any duties that include the interpretation and implementation of referrals from licensed medical doctors or dentists, the performance of evaluations, the determination and modification of treatment programs, or any independent performance of any physical therapy procedures. 

Details of Duties:

1. Treatment room preparation and clean up

2. Escorting patients to and from treatment and preparing them for treatment

3. Laundry and stocking of shelves

4. Treatment room shelf stocking

5. General clinic clean up

6. Equipment cleaning and maintenance

7. Exercise equipment cleaning and maintenance

8.  Prepare gel bottles and ice cups

9. Supply inventory and ordering Assist in treatment preparation and application as training and skills allow

10. Assist in front office duties as needed

11. Reports problems to Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants or other appropriate personnel

12. Other duties as assigned.

Education: High School graduate

Experience: Six months preferred

Contacts: Frequent contact with patients and departmental staff.

Physical Demands: Stands, walks, and pushes most of the day with frequent lifting of 35 lbs and supporting patient
