Job description

Job Purpose:
The Sheeter Operator at JOHNS BYRNE CO converts large rolls of material into properly cut sheets that support production needs of the Press Department. This role requires a strong attention to detail and organization to ensure efficient production processes and meet client specifications.

  • Sets up and operates the Sheeter to cut paperboard to correct size.
  • Retrieves correct paperboard stock from warehouse using forklift.
  • Sets machine with paper guides for the correct size of paper to be sheeted.
  • Runs test sheets; examines test sheets to detect defects and verifies conformance to work orders.
  • Observes operation of machine to detect and correct machine malfunctions.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, security procedures and instructions.
  • Performs all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPEs.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required Education

  • Minimum of High School Education or Equivalent

Required Experience

  • 3+ years work-related experience in a manufacturing environment. Sheeting and/or paper board experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with Pasaban Sheeter equipment preferred.
  • Forklift experience, specifically Clamp Forklift

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to actively listen, analyze needs and determine needs
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Must possess good organization skills & attention to detail and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to work well with others, as well as work independently
  • Must have good computer skills

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand and walk around the facility.
  • Regularly required to use force to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Work performed in a shop environment where a noise level is moderate. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • Regularly exposed to dust, odors, and moderate noise
  • Occasionally exposed to hot and cold temperature
