Tasks of Position
The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner which upholds the integrity and honesty of our company.
  • Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safety perform assigned tasks and duties, prepared to provide excellent service.
  • Promoting sales through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, samples, and discussing current promotions and service information. (Examples may include: asking guests if they need specific products to accompany requested items, chatting about Yoke's signature items, fresh board and sweet deal suggestions, or providing information about recipes and products).
  • Providing exceptional service by greeting guests, and informing them of specials, product information, and services offered by the bakery. Services include but are not limited to the following: writing on cakes, receiving first birthday cake free, giving free samples upon request, reducing/mixing package sizes, slicing all breads upon request, guaranteeing product 100% by replacing product or giving money back, wedding consultation, and delivering & setting up.
  • Decorating cakes, preparing icing and other decorating tools and items for retail sale and special orders; stocking and rotating items for sale, producing extra inventory to ensure proper stock levels in department.
  • Planning and requesting supplies and ingredients in advance for holidays, promotions, and custom orders.
  • Demonstrating skill in blending colors and simple decorations with icing, edible images and deco kits.
  • Understanding and capable of performing the following: finishing par bake products, labeling product ingredients, dating, rotating, closing department, opening department, writing orders, posting ads/display signage, inspecting all bakery items for quality and consistency before merchandising, decorating for seasonal promotions and to optimize sales, merchandising, and using "This One's On Us" cards to "Make Our Guests Crazy About Us!"
  • Operating (at minimum) the following equipment in a correct and safe manner: com-line, phone, scales, shrink wrapper, sheeter, doughnut hopper, doughnut fryer, divider/rounder, bread slicer, dishwasher, proof box, glazer, label machine, case lights, ovens, PFM/shrink, retarder, tubes, tips, spatulas, pins, and theme kits.
  • Communicating and completing guests' special order requests with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Mentoring new associates and assuring a positive learning environment.
  • Finding a way to make our guests happy.
  • Ensuring all work performed in the department is completed in accordance with all local, state, federal and company rules, regulations, and policies regarding workplace safety, food handling safety, and guest services.
  • Participating actively in the Bakery Department's accident reduction plan including: maintaining hood/vents, cleaning floors, sanitizing, and recognizing shelf order, safety features of all machinery, store evacuation plan, robbery policy, health codes for bleach, case temperatures, gloves, bin scoops, sink regulations, and storing regulations.
