Job description

Description
Shop Superintendent - Sheet Metal
Aurora, CO
$97,000-$120,000 + Annual Incentive Bonus Eligibility
Lead the Shop. Build What Matters. Develop Who's Next.
The best Shop Superintendents don't just deliver projects. They build teams, develop leaders, and create the shop culture that determines whether a project succeeds.
At RK Industries, you will own the floor - setting the tone, growing the team, and making sure every job that leaves the bay is built right, bundled right, and shipped on time. You'll have the opportunity to influence execution strategy, labor planning, prefabrication, productivity, safety, and quality while developing the Superintendents, Foremen, and craft professionals who will lead what's next.
And you won't build alone. RK's in-house fabrication, manufacturing, construction, and building services capabilities give our leaders resources that many contractors simply don't have.
This is an opportunity to leave a legacy, not just complete another project.
What You'll Lead
  • Maintain controlled conditions across all shop production activities and drive continuous improvement in process, quality, and productivity.
  • Read drawings like a story - catch scope changes early, flag shop drawing revisions, and keep the shop ahead of the schedule instead of chasing it.
  • Direct employees through bundling, staging, and complete shipment of materials, and coordinate delivery dates with our trucking partners.
  • Ensure shop labor costs and timecards are allocated accurately.
  • Coordinate closely with the VDC team and detailing partners so work packages flow cleanly from VDC into production.
  • Partner shoulder-to-shoulder with Project Managers, field personnel, Schedulers, and Work Order Processors to deliver high-quality projects on time.
  • Assist the Shop Operations Manager with hiring, evaluations, and terminations of shop personnel.

What You Bring
  • 7 years of relevant sheet metal experience - this is non-negotiable.
  • Commercial HVAC production is a strong plus.
  • Advanced knowledge and techniques within the sheet metal shop function
  • Proven success leading complex projects, multiple crews, and field leaders
  • Deep expertise in labor planning, scheduling, productivity, quality, cost, and project execution
  • Strong judgment and the ability to make decisions in fast-moving environments
  • A track record of developing people and building accountable teams

Why Build Your Career at RK
  • Build bigger. Lead sophisticated, high-profile projects with the resources and capabilities to execute them well.
  • Have a voice. Influence project strategy, field operations, and how RK continues to improve the way we build.
  • Build with an integrated team. Tap into seven specialized business units and extensive in-house fabrication, manufacturing, and prefabrication capabilities.
  • Develop who's next. Build future field leaders while continuing your own development through mentorship, hands-on learning, and RK University.
  • Build for the long term. Join a second-generation, family-owned company that combines the stability of an established builder with the growth and opportunity of an industry leader.

Your Benefits
  • Paid Time Off plus 6 paid holidays
  • Health Insurance with a $100 wellness incentive
  • 401(K) with company match
  • Employee Discount Program through PerkSpot

If you're ready to lead larger projects, build stronger teams, and put your name behind work that matters, we'd like to talk.
Build projects that matter. Build leaders who last. Build your future at RK.
