Job description
We are seeking a US-based Remote Truss Designer with 2-5 years of MiTek experience who is passionate about delivering accurate, optimized roof and floor truss designs while collaborating with Sales, Production, and Customers to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Design roof and floor truss systems using MiTek engineering software.
- Interpret architectural and structural blueprints to create accurate truss placement layouts and engineered truss designs.
- Optimize truss designs for structural integrity, manufacturability, material efficiency, and cost-effectiveness while complying with company standards and applicable building codes.
- Specify all required truss hardware, metal connector plates, hangers, and engineered components.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including Job Tracking Sheets, design revisions, and project records.
- Prepare and submit truss approval packages and customer documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Collaborate with Sales, Estimators, Production, and Customers to resolve design challenges, answer technical questions, and support project timelines.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting production schedules and customer deadlines.
- Participate in design reviews, team meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-5 years of truss design experience using MiTek software.
- Experience designing roof trusses, floor trusses, and truss placement layouts.
- Working knowledge of residential and light commercial wood framing, engineered wood products (EWP), and current building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of truss engineering principles, load paths, gravity and lateral loads, and structural design concepts.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, sales teams, manufacturing, and engineering.
