Sheet Metal Superintendent


Position Summary
The Sheet Metal Superintendent is responsible for leading commercial HVAC and sheet metal construction projects from start to finish. This role provides field leadership for crews performing commercial ductwork, equipment installation, and specialty ventilation systems while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and to Blauch Brothers, Inc. quality standards.
 
The Superintendent works closely with Project Managers, field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and customers to coordinate labor, maintain production, uphold safety standards, and deliver exceptional workmanship.
 
This is a safety-sensitive position.

Core Responsibilities – Field Leadership
  • Lead and supervise sheet metal crews on commercial construction projects
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee daily jobsite operations
  • Manage manpower, workflow, and labor efficiency
  • Order materials and coordinate deliveries to maintain project schedules
  • Interpret blueprints, submittals, and project specifications
  • Identify, document, and communicate change orders
  • Maintain superior quality control standards
  • Analyze labor forecasting and production to improve project performance
Core Responsibilities – Installation & Project Execution
  • Oversee installation of commercial HVAC duct systems (rectangular, spiral, and specialty systems)
  • Coordinate grease duct and welded duct installations
  • Coordinate equipment setting including RTUs, AHUs, exhaust fans, VAVs, and related equipment
  • Oversee installation of prefabricated duct assemblies and specialty ventilation systems
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, project drawings, and company standards

  • Lead, train, mentor, and develop sheet metal mechanics and apprentices
  • Provide coaching, counseling, and corrective action when appropriate
  • Maintain strong communication with Project Managers, General Contractors, and other trades

  • Valid Virginia Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass background screening
Schedule
  • Full-time position. Schedule based on project demands; overtime, weekends, and travel may be required.
