Established in the Blue Ridge foothills of North Carolina in 1963, Leonard Buildings and Truck Accessories is a manufacturer and distributor whose product lines include storage buildings, cargo and utility trailers, truck covers, truck and van accessories, carports, playhouses, chicken coops, and dog houses. We serve our residential, commercial, fleet, and government customers through our 150+ retail store locations in eighteen states, supported by our corporate offices (in Mount Airy, NC, and Cobden, IL), distribution centers, and strategically located manufacturing facilities.
Job Summary:
The Driver - CDL position is based at the Leonard Distribution Center ,with operations in the U.S. and has overall responsibility for safely transporting shed buildings and truck accessories to designated locations, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations and company policies. This position reports directly to the Delivery Manager and has 0 direct reports.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Safely operates commercial vehicles, including box trucks, flatbed trucks, or tractor-trailers, to transport shed buildings and truck accessories to designated locations.
  • Adheres to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving, ensuring the safety of oneself, passengers, other motorists, and pedestrians.
  • Transports shed buildings and truck accessories from distribution centers or manufacturing facilities to customer locations, job sites, or retail stores.
  • Follows delivery schedules, routes, and instructions provided by dispatchers or transportation managers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Loads and secures shed buildings and truck accessories onto the truck using appropriate equipment and techniques, ensuring that cargo is properly balanced and secured for transport.
  • Unloads cargo at delivery locations, using manual or mechanical methods as required, and assist customers with the placement of items as needed.
  • Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections of commercial vehicles, checking for mechanical issues, damage, or safety hazards, and reporting any concerns to maintenance or management.
  • Performs basic maintenance tasks on commercial vehicles, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and lighting systems, and reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
  • Interacts professionally with customers and recipients at delivery locations, providing courteous and helpful assistance with unloading and placement of shed buildings and truck accessories.
  • Addresses customer inquiries or concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring a positive delivery experience and representing [Company Name] in a professional manner.

Education/Experience Requirements:
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (e.g., Class A) as required for the specific vehicles being operated. Clean driving record with no recent accidents or traffic violations.
Previous experience as a CDL driver, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
Pay: $65,000-$133,000/year.
Travel: This position requires approximately (90%) travel within the region.
